Rebate

미국생활에서 생소한 것 중의 하나가 리베이트(rebate)이다.
다만, 제품을 할인해주는 방법으로 알면 편하다.
보통 mail-in rebate와 instant rebate가 있다. 글자그대로 전자는 우편으로 신청해서 리베이트를 받는 것이고, 후자는 그자리에서 바로 리베이트를 받는 것이다. 따라서 mail-in rebate가 상대적으로 많다.
전자제품의 경우 mail-in rebate하는 상품이 많아서, 그걸 고려해서 제품을 구입하면 편하다.

mail-in rebate를 받으려면 가게마다 규정이 다르지만 보통 다음과 같은 구비 서류가 있어야 한다.
– 신청양식( 가게마다 다름. 그 자리에서 양식을 주는 데도 있고, 인터넷에서 양식을 출력해야 하는 경우도 있음)
  -> 여기에는 리베이트 받을 주소 등을 적는다.
– 제품상자에 있는 바코드 (상자를 버리는 어리석은 행동은 하지 말 것. 버리더라도 바코드는 오려낸 다음에.)
– 영수증 사본 (스캔해서 보낸다.)
